The ‘Inside Road’ Trail - Lawn Hill Pioneering days
This is a very informal trail, that can be hard to find.
The Inside and North Roads are both part of the original Settler’s Road and are rich in settlement history. It is a wagon road created for and by settlers in the late 19th century.
The hike from the Inside Road trailhead to Pretty John’s farm is approximately 5 km (one way) along a clearly marked, albeit muddy trail with numerous ‘bridges’ of the corduroy style.
From the end of Lawn Hill Road, it is approximately 1.5 km along the gravel road, past the North Road/Pontoons trailhead, to the junction of the Inside Road at the boundary of a private property.
Please do not trespass on private property.
For a more detailed description of the trail and a personnal account of the hike, please read our blog entry "The ‘Inside Road’ Trail – Stepping Back in Time on Haida Gwaii"
IMPORTANT INFORMATION: This suggested hike is a route and as such is not along a formal trail. Access to the trailhead can be difficult, the hike itself can be strenuous, require some navigational skills, special gear and people attempting this hike need to be well prepared.
